Early Years

Our youngest TIPSians, aged 2½ to 5 years, begin their educational journey at our Kindergarten school in Erode across PreKG, KG1 and KG2. Guided by the TIPS Integrated Foundational Programme, we blend the best of Montessori, Play-Way and CBSE to create a warm, child-centred environment.

Expert educators nurture curiosity, independence and confidence through movement, music and storytelling, sensorial exploration, creative arts and nature-based learning. Language, early numeracy and environmental awareness are introduced through hands-on experiences, building strong foundations in a safe, caring and joyful environment.

Our Kindergarten unfolds across three carefully designed levels, PreKG, KG1 and KG2, each building naturally on the last.

Our curriculum

At our Kindergarten School in Erode, youngest learners begin their Kindergarten journey through a carefully integrated programme that blends Montessori sensorial methods, Play-Way learning approaches and the CBSE national curriculum, ensuring every child explores, discovers and grows across language, movement, creative arts and practical life experiences.

Movement & physical development

Strong bodies, curious minds

Children develop strength, coordination and body awareness through a rich variety of physical activities woven into every day. In the sandpit and natural outdoor spaces, children play barefoot, connecting with their environment while building sensory awareness. The unique 8-walk, tracing the shape of eight on white pebbles, supports brain development, reduces stress and improves concentration.

Crawling and creeping provide neurological foundations that directly support reading and writing later on. Balance walks build core strength, hand-eye coordination and left-right body awareness, while animal walks deliver calming deep pressure to joints and limbs.

Movement & physical development

Creative arts & expression

Giving feelings a voice

Creative expression is at the heart of kindergarten life at TIPS Erode CBSE. Through drama and role play, children step into characters and scenarios that allow them to explore emotions they cannot yet verbalise, developing language, social skills and a sense of agency. Playing by their own rules, children feel confident, imaginative and free to express themselves fully.

Music and dance bring another dimension to creative life, igniting intellectual, social and motor development simultaneously. Children learn to work as a team, share space and ideas and express emotions through movement and song.

Language & literacy

Unlocking the power of words

Language development follows the natural order of listening, speaking, reading and writing, introduced across English, Tamil and Hindi from the very first days of school. Fingerplay rhymes combine hand movements with song and spoken word, developing motor skills, memory, auditory discrimination and the early foundations for musical ability.

Storytelling is an immersive experience, with each story revisited over two weeks and explored through a natural materials story table. Object talk, letter tracing, sound recognition, rhymes and reading help children build strong vocabulary and communication skills.

Wellbeing & mindfulness

Nurturing the whole child

Dedicated mindfulness practices are woven into the daily rhythm of kindergarten life, helping children develop self-awareness, emotional resilience and a sense of inner calm from their very first years at school.

Activities include breathing exercises, attentive listening to the sounds of the surrounding environment and guided imagination sessions. Regular "what are you feeling now?" conversations create a safe and open space for children to identify and express their emotions.

Open-ended play & circle time

Learning without limits

Open-ended materials such as stones, feathers, twigs and blocks invite children to build, sort, design and create entirely on their own terms. With no fixed outcome or end product, children become natural innovators and explorers, developing creativity, imagination and the ability to think independently.

Circle time brings the group together in a shared, inclusive space where every child is given the opportunity to participate equally. Children gather together and engage in musical games, cooperative activities, finger rhymes and storytelling, building positive relationships.

Exercises of Practical Life (EPL)

Building independence from day one

Rooted in the Montessori method, Exercises of Practical Life give children the tools to explore their environment through purposeful movement. Activities such as grasping, spooning, pouring beans and water build the harmony between brain, senses and muscles that underpins all future learning.

Children also learn to care for their environment through the use of sponges, brooms and dustpans, developing a sense of responsibility, order and self-sufficiency that grows with them throughout their kindergarten journey.

Exercises of Practical Life (EPL)

Sensorial exploration

Discovering the world through the senses

The sensorial area invites children to explore the world around them through touch, sight, smell, sound and taste. Each activity isolates one defining quality sharpening perception and laying the groundwork for abstract thinking and problem-solving.

Children engage in finger painting, kneading wheat flour dough, identifying the fragrances of different leaves, sorting colour tablets and exploring a variety of cloth textures. Through these hands-on experiences, they develop a keener eye for detail, a curiosity for discovery and the confidence to investigate the world around them.

Our learning approaches

Montessori method Play-Way approach

Montessori method

The Montessori method at TIPS Kindergarten places the child at the centre of their own learning. Through carefully designed materials and purposeful activities, children develop independence, concentration and a natural love of discovery at their own pace.

Educators act as guides rather than instructors, observing each child closely and offering support precisely when needed. From Exercises of Practical Life to sensorial exploration and small movable materials, every activity is designed to build harmony between brain, senses and muscles.

Play-Way approach

At TIPS Erode CBSE, the boundary between play and learning disappears entirely. The Play-Way approach recognises that children absorb knowledge most naturally through exploration, imagination and direct experience and that play is the most powerful vehicle for that growth.

Rather than following a fixed script, children are free to explore, create and discover at their own pace, developing creativity, social skills and emotional intelligence in an environment where curiosity is always encouraged and every idea is worth exploring.
